The Desaparecidos is Conor Oberst being really angry instead of really sad. It’s way better and every time I listen to Read Music, Speak Spanish I want to burn down the closest Starbucks.
I have loved Conor Oberst since the day I heard him in Bright Eyes back in 2001. Most of you know this since I own the whole vinyl box set and when I listen to him and I cry and cut myself (just kidding! I just cry!)… but seriously, Desaparecidos are wonderful! Amazing one might say! It’s like Conor stopped the whining (I don’t feel that way, but I know others might) but still kept his lyrical insight. Also, his new album coming up is the first time he has ever (rumored, pictures have been sent around but it may not be the final cover) put himself on the cover. Delicious. The one track I’m really feeling right now that, if I had to choose, would describe my spot in life right now, is Land Locked Blues with Emmy Lou Harris (if you want you can check it out on older posts), but it’s by Bright Eyes, not Desaparecidos. Still though, genius. So kids, go cut yourself think about your position in life…
